Elsie Ray

Elsie May Ray aka Granny Ray of Mansfield, aged 88 passed from this world on November 25, 2022.  Born Elsie May Davis on May 21, 1934 in Mineral Point, WI, to parents: Charles Carbonell Davis and Avis Quick Davis.

She is preceded in death by her parents, beloved

husband Lewis, precious daughter Kathy Jo Chappell, stepson Stephen L Ray, and three brothers: Charles (Chuck) Davis of Mineral Point, WI, Alden Davis of Clinton, AR, and Roger Davis of Tulsa, OK.  As well as nephew Terry Lee Davis.

Elsie is survived by one sister, Edith Ann her husband Paul Mooney of Fort Worth. She is also survived by daughters: Vicky L her husband Larry Woods of Edmund, OK and Christine J Taylor of Mansfield, stepdaughter Cynthia Kennedy of Wiley, sons: James J Ray his wife Lisa of Arlington, Kelly L Ray of Fort Worth. This proud grandmother will be remembered by eight granddaughters; Autumn Benavides, Jaclyn her husband Scott Strayer, Katy her husband Aaron Peart, Lindey Ray, Skylar her husband Joshua Celis, Shanti Ray, Presley Ray, Landry Ray; and eight great grandkids. Nephews Ricky Davis his wife Terry, and Jody Ray his partner Tina, and many more family and friends.

She has been a member of the Plymouth Congregational Church in Dodgeville, Wisconsin since 1949. Was a member of Epsilon Sigma Alpha Sorority of Texas, a member of The National Daughters of the American Revolution and Edmund Chandler Family Association of New England.  She set up and funded the Lewis Ray Bowling Scholarship Awards for youth bowlers of the DFW Metroplex.

Granny raised and showed Rayette Toy Poodles across the country for a number of years, with several Champions to her credit.  In her later years, she became an avid genealogist and co-owner and operator of KC Sno-Cone Stand in Mansfield, TX.

A graveside memorial service and inurnment will be held on Monday, December 19th at 2pm, at Emerald Hills Memorial Park, Kennedale, TX.
